  • Line Andreassen Sæle is the chair of HL7 Norway. She is serving a new term.
  • Jan-Eric Slot is the chair of HL7 Netherlands and the current chair of the HL7 Europe Board of Directors. Like Roman, Jan-Eric will be serving his second term.

“We warmly welcome the European HL7 Affiliate Representatives to the HL7 Europe Board of Directors. They bring critical insights from the national affiliates that are working diligently to make the European Health Data Space (EHDS) a reality. Their expertise, energy, engagement, and strong connections to their national communities are invaluable and will play a key role in advancing HL7 Europe’s mission and success,” says Catherine Chronaki, HL7 Europe Secretary General. “We look forward to working closely with them over the next two years. The Working Group Meetings in Malaga (16-20 November 2026) and Warsaw (4-7 April 2027) will be important milestones, bringing together affiliate leaders, implementers, and experts from across Europe to align priorities, exchange knowledge, and reinforce our shared commitment to making EHDS a reality”.

“As HL7 Europe Technical Lead, I particularly welcome the continuity and experience that Roman, Line and Jan-Eric bring to the Board at a crucial time for the implementation of the EHDS. The coming two years will require close cooperation between European and national communities to translate the EHDS requirements and Implementing Acts into practical, interoperable specifications and implementation guidance. Strong engagement from the HL7 Affiliates and Member States will be essential to ensure that this work is technically sound, implementable, and aligned with the realities of national health systems,” says Giorgio Cangioli, HL7 Europe Technical Lead.

“On behalf of the members of the European Advisory Council, I would like to congratulate the three of them on their election and wish them success in their work and in representing the affiliates on the Board,” says Roeland Luykx, chairman of the European Advisory Council and HL7 Switzerland.

The HL7 Europe Board of Directors governs the European regional realm of Health Level Seven International and serves to address European standardization requirements in digital health. Of the thirteen members, three members are elected by members of the European Advisory Council representing the 23 national affiliates in Europe. In this election round, 21 of 23 European affiliates cast their votes.
